Brittany 2017

Summary

Chateau du Val lies deep in the Brittany Countryside near Saint-Just. In August 201, 7 families assembled to explore the area, munch the cheese and enjoy the cycling.

Sunday took us to La Gacilly where a quite remarkable outdoor photographic exhibition graces the town for 4 months every year. Sponsored by Yves-Rocher the theme this year was Africa.

Monday was Rochefort day. Designated as one of France's Scenic Villages it had to be good and it was. A quaint main street and an abandoned chateau, pre-quelled for some by a visit to a Dinosaur Park

Tuesday took us Renac where the boulangerie took a hammering after which it was a delightful saunter along the Villain River.

Thursday sent us North to Guipry, home of an extraordinary motor museum. Where else except France would you find a museum with over 400 cars including 20 Formula One cars in the middle of nowhere

The last day was welcomed by rain and we sheltered in Redon.

Throughout the week the adults enjoyed the environs of the old stable and chateau and the children loved the pool. We cooked pasta, had a chef in for 2 nights and ate the most enormous bread and butter pudding from all the baguettes that we failed to eat at breakfast.

My last summer flying solo on these, Gary Hill will be running these from next year, first stop Belgium
